There is another scam of citizens mistakenly swiping bills!

A 35-year-old woman saw job postings on social platforms earlier, so she applied to be an online salesperson. She clicked on shopping platforms to increase the reputation of merchants in order to earn commissions.

According to the instructions, she deposited 14,252 yuan in batches into the account designated by the other party for shopping on the platform, but the other party lost contact afterwards. She suspected that she had been cheated, so she reported to the police at about 4 pm today (January 1).

After a preliminary investigation by the police, the case was classified as "acquisition of property by deceit", and it was handed over to Team 9 of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Yau Tsim Police District for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.

It is understood that the female victim is Indonesian.

Last week, the police also cracked another similar "bill brusher" scam. The 62-year-old Nepalese victim was defrauded of nearly 100,000 yuan.

According to the police, the job advertisements of scammers generally claim to be "quick money", "high labor", "same day pay" or "work at home"; applicants have low age and education requirements or no work experience and resume; And the actual position or work content, and only provide instant messaging software or mobile phone number contact method.

Some scammers even pay commissions after the victim's initial deposit to gain the trust of the victim.

Police appeal to members of the public to call "Anti-Scam 18222" if in doubt.
