Today, a Mass for World Peace was held in the Syriac Catholic Cathedral in Aleppo, which was attended by a number of heads of Christian denominations, and included prayers, hymns and supplications to establish peace in the world.

Bishop Antoine Shahda, Metropolitan of Aleppo and its dependencies, said to the Syriac Catholics: We celebrate the International Day of Peace and we hope that peace will be established and that all people will be blessed with goodness and blessings in Syria and the whole world.

And he prayed and prayed, that God preserve our brave army that liberated Syria, and that he have mercy on the martyrs who sacrificed their blood for the soil of the homeland, and that he protect Mr. President Bashar al-Assad, and that it be a good year for all Syrians full of hope, joy and delights.

In a statement to SANA reporter in Aleppo, Archbishop Boutros Marayati, head of the Armenian Catholic community in Aleppo, said: This day is the International Day of Peace, and we came on it to pray and raise supplications to God Almighty to grant us this peace in our country, Syria and the whole world, hoping that this year will be a year Love, brotherhood, and peace among people, as the angels chanted in heaven on Christmas Eve: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill towards men.”

Bishop George Masri, Metropolitan of Aleppo to the Melkite Greek Catholics and Archbishop of Aleppo, explained that today's celebration is to establish prayers for peace in Syria and the whole world, and we have faith that peace is a divine gift to people, and we must work to achieve this peace.

For his part, Bishop Antoine Odo, the Chaldean Archbishop in Syria, pointed out that today's prayer is for peace that stems from a strong Syria, and we pray, holding on to patience, that love and tolerance prevail in the world.

Archbishop Youssef Tobji, Archbishop of Aleppo, presented to the Maronites his congratulations to the Syrian people on the advent of the new year, wishing that goodness and blessings would prevail throughout Syria.
