The Organization of Journalists and Journalists addressed the Legal Adviser to the Government, Attorney Gali Beharev Miara, in a letter of warning before taking legal measures, against the Noam party, following a violation of the basic law on human dignity and freedom, freedom of occupation and freedom of the press - this is how Walla! Baranja learned.

These are lists from 2019 in which The names of gays and lesbians who work in various media appear. The list made headlines after an article by Nadav Eyal on the subject in Yediot Ahronoth last week.

In a letter sent by lawyers Amir Besha and Gilad Zevida,

after consultation and the consent of the journalists who appear on the blacklists

, it was stated that: "Intentional collection of Names of journalists and their place of work is intended to smear those journalists and harm them and in doing so, their job security and the freedom of the press of journalists who are public servants and whose work is done in the public interest.

"Monitoring and marking male and female journalists according to their sexual orientation, certainly by a political party, a member of the emerging coalition, may deter potential journalistic sources from maintaining working relationships with them; monitoring and marking male and female journalists on such a "black list" may deter many parties from inviting male and female journalists from the list for events, lectures, conferences, etc., and to place these bodies in a conflict of interest and with the fear that if they invite journalists from the LGBT community, this may harm public budgets, or in another aspect.

There is also a serious concern that the media will refrain from promoting journalists from the LGBT community 'so as not to upset the government'."

"Just as serious is the tangible threat to the journalists when a political party actually followed them and their journalistic work, marked and monitored them for a 'list'"

"There is a real and current concern that the journalists "marked" by the "Noam" party will be deprived of the possibility to take part in foreign programs of the Ministry of Education and to deliver lectures/workshops that deal with topics relevant to their field of activity," the letter reads.

"Just as serious is the tangible threat to journalists when a political party actually followed them and their journalistic work, marked and monitored them for a "list", when inquiries from journalists who came to us testify to personal and professional distress, a sense of fear and a negative impact on their work" .

"The meaning behind the absence of the "Noam" party's disavowal from the blacklists can even arouse and encourage the extreme parts of society and encourage, God forbid, extreme activity of violence against journalists on the lists, when their personal safety is neglected and allowed. Before we take legal steps, your urgent, quick and objective intervention is requested, including guidance It is clear that you will come from your side as the responsible party for this, and not to allow steps by a party that is part of the executive authority that would harm LGBT journalists."

Israel today, Russia tomorrow?

In the meantime, the LGBT Association published a huge ad in the Israel Hayom newspaper this morning (Sunday) under the title "Israel Hayom, Russia tomorrow?". The

association said: "The ad we published this morning in Israel Hayom is hiding in the back of the newspaper to convey a sharp and kicking message at the gate

We invite everyone in the public to get a copy of the newspaper (it's free!), fold it, take a photo and share it.

This is our protest about our future and our rights and we all need and should ask ourselves today, what will be here tomorrow."
