Wolfgang Grupp wants to hand over all of Trigema to his wife - a decision on the successor will be made soon

Trigema boss Wolfgang Grupp has been running his company for more than 50 years.

Now it seems the time has come for him to let go.

In 2023 he will hand over all his company shares to his wife.

Burladingen – When he took over the Trigema company in 1969, Wolfgang Grupp was just 27 years old.

Today he is an impressive 80 years old - which does not detract from his presence in the company.

He dutifully goes further into the company every day and still pulls all the strings in his hands.

Giving up control seemed unthinkable for him for a long time.

This could change in the coming year, reports BW24.

Nevertheless, he would like to continue working and get involved in the company where he can.

Grupp is still running the company as a registered merchant under the legal form e.

K. Accordingly, he is the sole managing director and is personally and directly liable for the company with all his assets.

Some time ago he determined that in the event of his death, his wife alone would decide about Trigema - she is considered the "love of his life" and was recently seen in a viral video clip.

Now Grupp apparently wants to complete the handover earlier than originally planned.

As soon as his wife Elisabeth has taken over his shares in the company, she has six months to pass the company on to one of her children.

According to Grupp, the short time is necessary in order not to have to pay inheritance tax twice.

Trigema successor: Bonita or Wolfgang Grupp Junior?

Whether daughter Bonita (born 1989) or son Wolfgang Grupp Junior (born 1991) will be at the head of Trigema in the future has not yet been finally clarified.

So far, when asked about the successor, father Grupp has always emphasized that he believes both children are capable of it.

However, there should never be any disputes over ownership.

Even the loser in the duel for the Trigema management will not go away empty-handed - and will inherit more than 3,000 hectares of land in Styria from his mother.

Trigema without Wolfgang Grupp as boss - that's hard to imagine so far.

With his direct and outspoken manner, the entrepreneur scores with his customers and is not above helping himself in his shops and serving at the checkout.

His entrepreneurial thinking was always clearly geared towards Germany as a production location - he doesn't think much of production in low-wage countries.

Even if he retires as CEO at the end of next year, that doesn't mean he'll say goodbye completely.

Although he could safely sit back and enjoy his free time, Grupp doesn't think that would make him happy.

"The best thing in life is not counting your money, but being needed," he says.

"And as long as I'm still given the feeling that I'm needed here, I'll be happy to come here."
