Leo, the sprightly dog pensioner, is waiting for a new owner at the Nuremberg animal shelter.

The male has already suffered a severe loss.

Nuremberg – At the turn of the year, as is well known, many animals in animal shelters are waiting for a new home.

Unfortunately, since pets are still often bought as gifts and then become a nuisance after the holidays, their number usually increases at this time.

To prevent this, the animal shelter in Nuremberg imposed a mediation freeze before Christmas.

Nevertheless, dogs, cats and co. are also waiting for new mistresses and masters here - just like dog grandpa Leo.

"Who will give the sprightly pensioner a home again - this time forever?"

Eleven Lenze Leo already counts, but is still in top shape.

However, he has already suffered a severe loss, the animal shelter writes on its Facebook page.

Leo's master died after a long illness and that changed the male a lot.

His mistress, who is struggling with health problems herself, was no longer able to take care of him adequately.

More and more often she stopped taking Leo seriously.

So she had no choice but to let him go.

Leo is also a bit peculiar when it comes to his food and toys.

He defends it so everyone knows it's his.

Otherwise, the dog senior is still full of juice.

He loves to go for walks and is great at walking on a leash.

The male also gets along well with other conspecifics.

Only overly excited, big dogs are not his thing.

And even if he looks cute and fluffy, Leo doesn't want to be touched by strangers.

Otherwise he is very affable and well behaved.

The quiet male can sometimes be left alone without the hut catching fire afterwards.

There is already interest in Leo on Facebook

Now the animal shelter hopes that owners with experience in dogs will soon get in touch, who will give the dog pensioner a nice home again and take over the management at home again.

Leo is just a dog with "rough edges", they write.

At least that doesn't seem to bother the followers of the shelter on Facebook.

Leo even got his first placement offer there.

“Pensioners meet pensioners.

Would be super interested,” writes one.

Maybe things will go very quickly and Leo will soon find a new home – hopefully this time forever.
