Domenico Perrone and Sandra Toth have opened the Italian restaurant "LaTerza Taverna" in the Gasthof Schreyegg.
This is how they fulfill a dream.
Unering
- The Italian restaurant "LaTerza Taverna" moved into Unering's Gasthof Schreyegg some time ago.
With the opening, a long-cherished dream came true for leaseholder and chef Domenico Perrone (52) and manager Sandra Toth (48).
The name is made up of "Laterza", the birthplace of the tenant in southern Italy, and "Taverna", meaning inn in Italian.
That was the name of the inn of the parents Emanuele and Lucia Perrone and later the restaurant of brother Renzo Perrone in Apulia.
The trained chef is now continuing this tradition in Unering.
Gastronomy is Perrone's life
For as long as he can remember, gastronomy has been part of his life, says Perrone.
At the age of eight he put a pizza in the oven for the first time, decided to train as a chef and many years later ensured good taste as head chef in a Munich pizzeria.
In the summer, the couple embarked on a hike that was to have consequences.
Because their trip took them past the district of Unering, where they fell in love "at first sight" with the then empty inn with the beer garden under the canopy of old chestnut trees, they rave.
In Unering, the couple has been warmly received
After that, things happened in quick succession: the contract was signed in the fall, Perrone sanded down the wood paneling and gave the interior a new coat of paint.
The kitchen was filled with Italian utensils, and the literary studies graduate and the chef welcomed the first guests at the beginning of December.
Toth is responsible for the organisation, froths the cappuccino and serves the visitors whenever her job as manager of a medium-sized company allows it.
Her heart has long been beating for the restaurant and the Uneringers, "who welcomed us so kindly," she says.
Offered is "Cucina della Nonna"
The menu features Italian originals from the repertoire of the "cucina della nonna", says Perrone.
So grandmother's kitchen, with nothing but fresh ingredients - and every order is freshly prepared, promises the 52-year-old.
"Whenever possible, we source our ingredients from the region," emphasizes the chef.
Eggs and vegetables come from the area.
In the future, Perrone wants to buy the meat from nearby producers.
In the cozy room with the wooden tables by the bay windows typical of a Bavarian farm, he says he prefers to serve his guests quality meat such as beef fillet.
And of course original pizzas.
The two also leave nothing to chance when it comes to selecting the wines.
"We order the wines from a supplier we trust," says Perrone.

Perrone and Toth's aim is for guests to "remember the good taste of the food in a positive way".
They see their restaurant as an extended living room in which clubs hold meetings or celebrate anniversaries or wedding or birthday parties crown the special day with culinary highlights.
Always under the motto "Come and stay".
