The Minister of National Security canceled his visit to the place, in the shadow of his conversation with the Prime Minister and the threats of Hamas • The preparation of the commissioner and the top police was stopped • The reason behind the conversation between the two: "He will come up in the next two weeks"

The Minister of National Security canceled his planned visit to the Temple Mount - following his conversation with the Prime Minister:

Prime Minister and Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu met this evening (Monday) with the Minister of National Security MK Itamar Ben Gabir, and asked him to postpone his expected ascension to the Temple Mount that was supposed to to take place in the coming days.

This, against the backdrop of a threat issued today by Hamas according to which it will not stand idly by in the face of the act.

The Hamas spokesman called the new government the "fascist settler government" and clarified that the visit to the mountain is an Israeli provocation that will be met with a response.

"I thank all the media for their interest," tweeted Minister Ben Geber on his Twitter account on the subject.

"Indeed, the Temple Mount is an important issue and, as I said, I am preparing to go up to the Temple Mount."

"Israel Hayom" learned that the minister's original intention was to hold the visit tomorrow morning or the day after tomorrow, but this was cancelled.

In the meantime, police preparations for the visit were halted.

The official with the details of the conversation said that Ben Gvir's ascent to the mountain will be in the next two weeks as originally planned.

Netanyahu did not ask him to postpone the plan.

A source close to the minister said that the visit will be carried out with a "low profile and in reverence to the holy place".

Storm in the public system

Situation assessment discussions were held in the Jerusalem district and a concluding discussion was also expected to take place with the police commissioner, R.N. Yaakov Shabtai, with the top of the Jerusalem police.

After that, a similar discussion on the issue was scheduled in the minister's office as well.

During the discussion, the parties were supposed to decide how to secure the minister without the visit provoking the anger of the Muslim criminals in the area and causing an escalation.

Last March, who was a Knesset member in the opposition, received special permission from the police to go up to the Temple Mount in honor of the Rosh Chodesh Nissan celebrations - and went up to the mount under threats from terrorist organizations.

His visit caused an uproar on the part of various parties in the public system who were happy about Ben Gvir's request to go up to the mountain precisely during the month of Ramadan, when Passover also falls, during which visiting hours for Jews were reduced.
