The court went well beyond the prosecutor's requisitions.
A 22-year-old man, living in Arnouville (Val-d'Oise), was sentenced to one year in prison without possibility of sentence adjustment for having committed acts of cruelty on his dog, who died.
The prosecutor had requested a sentence half as long.
The judge also issued a ban on keeping an animal.
