Five new stations on line 11 of the metro, automated line 4, two inaugurations of tram lines, autonomous buses, new trains and tickets finally available on iPhones… Here are the main changes expected in the coming months in Ile-de-France transport.

New rates to digest

It is done.

The new ticket prices came into effect on January 1.

Since December 20, subscribers to the monthly Navigo must pay 84.10 euros (+ 11.8%).

The single ticket in digital format rises from 1.49 euros to 1.69 euros.

This unprecedented increase comes to fill the finances of Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), the authority in charge of transport, weakened by the effects of Covid-19 and increasing expenses.

Should we already expect other price changes in a year?

It is up to the public authorities to decide.

Clément Beaune, the Minister of Transport, and Valérie Pécresse, the president of IDFM, spoke of a “conference” and “assizes” to reflect on new ways of financing transport.

More buses, trains and metros… But when?

After a difficult autumn 2022 for travellers, will 2023 be the year of a return to a “full offer”?

In any case, this is the course set by Île-de-France Mobilités for SNCF and RATP.

To be able to provide 100% service, operators are stepping up recruitment campaigns.

Bus and metro drivers;

station or maintenance agents: thousands of positions are to be filled.

The RATP envisages an improvement at “the end of the first quarter”.

On the side of the Transilien network, the delays to return to normal traffic are expected to be longer.

An exceptional advice from IDFM with the operators on this subject is scheduled for January 13th.

From Lilas to Rosny-sous-Bois, six more stations on line 11

This is the main “big project” that will come to fruition this year.

At the end of 2023, passengers on line 11 will be able to board new trains (the MP14) and will discover six new stations, between Les Lilas, Romainville, Montreuil, Noisy-le-Sec and Rosny-sous-Bois in Seine-Saint- Dennis.

These future stops located to the east, after Mairie des Lilas, are called Serge-Gainsbourg, Place-Carnot, Montreuil-Hôpital, Coteaux-Beauclair, La-Dhuys and Rosny-Bois-Perrier.

To prepare for this event, closures are scheduled at 10 p.m., from Tuesday to Thursday inclusive, between Châtelet and Mairie-des-Lilas, until September 28.

Automation of line 4 is completed

Since last September, driverless trains have been gradually introduced on line 4, between Bagneux and Porte de Clignancourt.

By the end of the year, all 52 trains will be computer-controlled.

Enough to make this major line of the network more reliable and fluid, used by 700,000 passengers every day.

The expected T10 tram between Clamart and Croix-de-Berny

The inauguration of the T10 is announced for the month of May.

This new line will serve 13 stops over 8.23 km, between Clamart, Le Plessis-Robinson, Châtenay-Malabry and Antony in the Hauts-de-Seine.

Operated by RATP Cap IDF, the T10 will have connections with the RER B and the T6.

Between 25,000 and 30,000 passengers will use it every day.

Self-service electric scooters: stop or again?

The contract linking the City of Paris to the three operators Lime, Dott and TIER ends at the end of February.

What will become of the 15,000 scooters and 12,500 self-service bicycles?

Mystery.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo (PS), must decide on the continuation of these services, used by around 400,000 regular customers, or their abolition.

Digital tickets and Navigo arrive on iPhone

The cardboard ticket is living its last months.

Since October 2022, owners of an Android smartphone can buy almost all tickets on their device and use it to validate their journey.

At the end of 2023, annual Navigo subscriptions, as well as origin-destination tickets (SNCF) and the Liberté + post-payment service should also be available on Android.

As for iPhone owners, they will finally be able to validate their journey and integrate their titles into their “Apple Wallet” by the fall.

The latest developments are underway on the side of the apple brand.

The digitized Navigo pass has been available on Android smartphones since October 17, 2022. This will soon also be possible for iPhones.

The T12 will connect Massy - Palaiseau and Évry-Courcouronnes

Eleven municipalities, served by 16 stations: at the end of 2023, the T12 tram-train will change the daily life of the inhabitants between Massy-Palaiseau and Évry-Courcouronnes in Essonne.

Operated by Transkeo (Keolis and SNCF groups), the T12 will have connections with the RER B, C and D. The tram-train should transport 40,000 passengers per day, in Palaiseau, Massy, Champlan, Longjumeau, Chilly-Mazarin, Épinay -sur-Orge, Morsang-sur-Orge, Viry-Châtillon, Grigny, Ris-Orangis and Évry-Courcouronnes.

Line 6: new trains in the sky of Paris

Line 6, between Etoile and Nation, offers a breathtaking view of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower.

Its emblematic Bir-Hakeim and Bercy viaducts will soon see renovated trains running.

The old MP73s, over 40 years old, will be replaced by 45 MP89 trains, defectors from line 4.

The first tests in real conditions have begun.

The entry into commercial service of these more comfortable and wider trains, equipped with new seats, is planned for the next few months.

RER E: “new generation” trains in September

Work to extend the RER E between Haussmann-Saint-Lazare and Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) should be completed this summer, according to SNCF Réseau.

Before commissioning scheduled for 2024, users should benefit from new RER NG trains, being delivered by Alstom.

The first RER NG trains (on the left) should come into circulation in September on the RER E.

The first passengers will discover them from September, between Haussmann-Saint-Lazare and Chelles-Gournay in Seine-et-Marne.

The RER NG, vast and bright, will arrive in stride on the RER D. IDFM financed the purchase of 255 copies for an amount of 3.75 billion euros.

Autonomous buses with passengers

Two RATP experiments should reach a decisive milestone in 2023. In Val-de-Marne, the 393 bus, fully autonomous over 6 km between Sucy-Bonneuil RER and Basse-Quinte, should be able to accommodate passengers at the authorized speed of 30 km/h.

The RATP is also fine-tuning a shuttle service serving the three Parisian stations of Bercy, Austerlitz and Gare-de-Lyon.

Entry into service with users is planned for 2023.
