For 30 years, Chava Zingboim established her position as one of the leading women in the field of cosmetics in Israel. The cosmetology school she founded to allow women to reach their own independent business is in demand

Chava Zingboim was only 15 years old, when she realized that she had to take her fate into her own hands - because no one else would take care of her.

"My mother was mentally ill, and my father was a Holocaust survivor. They divorced, and one day I was sitting with my father on a bench on Dizengoff Street, and he said to me: 'Look, Eve, you can't go home.' to live with my mother. I just didn't have a home," she says.

When she was only 17, she met her husband Muti, and when she was 18, they married.

After a few years, when they were parents to two little girls, Chava and Moti moved to the USA. "Moti was a cantor, and one of the female cantors in New York suggested that I study cosmetology.

I told her I was more in the direction of psychology, but she told me it was an amazing field and that I could work from home.

I didn't really know English, but I tried hard, studied, and passed the government tests.

Later I found out that a medical cosmetology course was opening at a hospital in Texas, and even though it was expensive and I had to move away from my family, I went for it.

I went through oncology, psychiatric, and severe burns departments," Zingbaum recalls. "I came back with the understanding that a cosmetologist has an important role in completing the doctor's work.

I opened clinics for medical cosmetics in the hospital, I developed therapeutic materials - and I was one of the first to deal with medical cosmetics, when others still focused on facial massage."

"The field of cosmetics has undergone a revolution."

"When we returned to Israel, I opened the first unit in Israel for medical cosmetics, and I worked from morning until night. Slowly the business developed and reached its current status, but I was not done fulfilling my dreams yet. I knew that my next step would be to open a school for cosmetologists - and so it was," she says .

"I built the most comprehensive track for cosmetology in Israel, and perhaps also in the world, with a study program of a year and a half, which equips the graduates with a profession for life. Today, the courses are so much in demand, and are filled for 3-4 months ahead."

Establishing a thriving cosmetics business, why also establish a school?

"The consideration for establishing the school was not financial. I wanted to give as many women as possible, and men as well, the opportunity to improve their lives with their own hands. You don't learn how to apply lotions here - you learn here how to build our lives with our own hands. How to pick ourselves up as well In challenging days, to take ourselves from nothing to everything."

There is no shortage of cosmetology schools in Israel.

"True, but the existing schools offer the basic courses established by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, nearly 50 years ago.

Since then, the field of cosmetics has undergone a revolution, with new technologies coming in all the time, active ingredients and more.

We have created a collaboration with Ichilov Hospital and Bar-Ilan University, to ensure that our students are up to date with everything that is happening in the market, and also leave the course with real practical experience.

What further sets us apart is the close support we provide to the students, and the facts speak for themselves: we have 100% success in the TMT exams. If you're already investing time and money to learn a profession for life - it's better to learn from someone who leads the field."

"An amazing way to establish financial independence."

According to Zingboim, her audience of students is very diverse.

"Young women come here, who do not want to be financially dependent on their parents, and dream of getting to their own clinic. They do so with our support. Older women also study here, some of them are engaged in professions such as teaching and nursing, looking to supplement their income, and others are doing vocational training or those who have not worked "The course is also a warm home for women

from

the Arab and ultra-Orthodox sectors, who want to work from home and with women only, and thus contribute to the household, without arousing the opposition of the husband.

Men from the gay community from all sectors also study with us."

How is the course structured? What certificates does it award to the participants?

The studies in the course include four stages, spanning a year and a half, and at the end of each of them there is also a practical internship in the clinic: a basic cosmetics course recognized for the veterans deposit;

training course for advanced studies for a PME certified beautician;

A multi-system enrichment course for beauticians, held in conjunction with the Ichilov Hospital, and a specialization course in advanced equipment and innovative technologies for the treatment of a variety of skin problems.

"Graduates and graduates of the expanded track leave with a certificate for completing an upgraded basic course for cosmetologists recognized by the Ministry of Economy; a P.ME certification certificate; a training certificate in multi-system diagnostics and a certificate of completion of a course for studying advanced technological equipment," Zingboim says.

"They also receive certificates of specialization in professional beauty makeup, eyebrow shaping and waxing, as well as certification certificates from the various cosmetic companies."

Studies once a week, combined with work.

"I continue to closely accompany the graduates of the studies. I am in all the groups, answer questions at all hours, help in finding a job or opening a private clinic, offer supplementary courses, invite to conferences and professional symposia and continue to expose the graduates to innovations and developments in the field of advanced cosmetics. The studies are held once per week - in order to allow a combination of work during studies, when you can start working in the field already during this period, and gain experience."

"I didn't open a cosmetology school because it's trendy," Zingbaum concludes.

"I believe that you should learn from those who walk in the shoes you want to walk in, which is why women come to me. It excites me, because our motto is to give women financial resilience and the ability to make a good living on their own. I always say that this is a home for female leadership."
