The epidemic situation in Hong Kong is still severe. Today (2nd) there were 20,230 new confirmed cases, 3,131 cases less than yesterday, breaking the 20,000 level for the sixth consecutive day, and 367 imported cases.

There were 74 new deaths today, a new high in a single day since April 8. The seven-day average death toll rose to 62, with a total of 11,943 deaths.

Summary of today's epidemic situation:

-An increase of 20,230 confirmed cases, 3,131 fewer than yesterday.

- There were 367 imported cases, accounting for 1.81% of the overall case rate; compared with 29,068 airport arrivals on the same day, the confirmed rate was 1.26%, and the seven-day average rate was 3.30%.

- 74 new patients died, a new high after April 8. The average death rate on the 7th rose slightly to 0.264%, and the overall death rate remained at 0.45%. The cumulative death toll was 11,943.

- A total of 5,233 patients were hospitalized, of which 535 were newly confirmed patients, 23 critical cases and 42 serious cases were newly reported.

Only 367 imported cases

There were another 20,230 confirmed cases in Hong Kong today.

Among the confirmed cases, 19,863 were local cases, and 367 were imported cases, accounting for 1.81% of the total cases.

There were 29,068 people arriving at the airport yesterday, and the confirmed diagnosis rate was 1.26%, a slight increase of 0.18 percentage points from yesterday.

The seven-day average number of imported confirmed cases was 791, and the seven-day average imported confirmed rate was 3.30%.

Since 2020, a total of 2,667,686 people have been diagnosed in Hong Kong.

Among the samples received by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health for verification tests of local cases from December 24 to 30, samples related to the BA.4/BA.5 substrain of the Omicron mutant virus accounted for about 51.27%.

The Department of Health has not found any imported or local cases of the new variant virus Omicron subtype variant strain. So far, a total of 226 cases of XBB, 6 cases of XBD, 8 cases of BA.2.75.2, 7 cases of BA.4.6, 13 cases of BF.7 and There were 38 cases of BQ.1.1 subseries, while in local cases, a total of 165 cases of XBB, 18 cases of XBD, 1 case of BA.2.75.2, 12 cases of BF.7 and 192 cases of BQ.1.1 subseries were found.

As for schools, today is a school holiday, and no school has reported any new cases.

In terms of residential institutions, 28 residential institutions have confirmed cases, among which 31 residents and 6 staff have been diagnosed.

5,233 confirmed patients hospitalized, 23 more critical cases

The Hospital Authority announced that the current overall occupancy rate of medical beds in acute hospitals is about 116%.

5,233 confirmed patients were hospitalized in public hospitals yesterday.

Among the confirmed patients staying in the hospital, there are 535 newly confirmed patients, 3,109 need to be admitted to isolation facilities, 765 are receiving oxygen therapy, and 94 need ventilators to assist breathing.

The number of new hospital stays compared to the total number of hospital patients was 10.2%.

A total of 202 critical and 241 serious confirmed patients are now hospitalized, and 55 critical patients are receiving intensive care.

The total number of new critical illnesses in a single day compared with the total number of new hospitalized patients was 12.1%.

According to the Hospital Authority, as of 00:00 am today, 74 new deaths of patients infected with the new coronavirus have been reported, including 40 males and 34 females, aged between 46 and 104, and 23 of them came from institutions.

As for vaccination, 22 people had no injection information, 12 people got 4 shots, 34 people got 3 shots, and 6 people got 2 shots.
