Germering – Some were looking forward to it with longing, others were grateful for the last two quiet years.
This year firecrackers and rockets could again be bought for New Year's Eve.
But it wasn't just in private that there was loud banging, there was already a huge fireworks display at the pre-New Year's Eve party.
And also the tradition of the Schützenverein Gemütlichkeit to welcome the year with the New Year's firecrackers took place again after a two-year break.

So the noise level was high and many tempers on social media were just as high.
There has been a lot of discussion about how harmful the rockets and firecrackers are to the environment and animals.
However, many did not let this deter them and – perhaps also because of the two-year abstinence – put another pack of firecrackers on the shopping belt.
The mountain behind the parking lot at Germeringer See was well attended on January 1st.
At 15 degrees and sunshine, many combined the spectacle with a bike ride or a walk around the lake.
The new kiosk operators were also happy – their tables were all occupied.
But what exactly is behind the custom and why is it still carried out today?
Dating back to the 15th century, firecrackers are believed to ward off evil spirits and demons while also helping to change the weather and awaken nature.
And you woke up, the firecrackers, led by shot master Carmen Sturz, banged, but several times and sometimes in a row.
