Patrol car gone astray: A police officer overlooked a staircase at Friedrichsplatz in Kassel.

The picture finds many fans on the Internet.

Kassel – Cars are not usually made to go down stairs.

A police officer on Wednesday (December 28) at Friedrichsplatz found that this also applies to patrol cars.

His vehicle got stuck on the steps leading from Friedrichsplatz to Steinweg.

What was happening there?

A photo shows a patrol car, the front of which has already touched down on the sidewalk of Steinweg, while the rear is still on Friedrichsplatz – with a difference in height of four steps.

These steps cannot even be described as real stairs.

For a Mercedes station wagon, however, there is a rather unfavorable parking position, reports hna.de.

"Harleshausen-Benni (12) thought he was playing GTA and sat in the police car for a moment," says the Kassel Memes Instagram account, from where the image of the patrol car in the city center went viral.

On the Instagram account, among other things, strange events from Kassel are collected, which users send in there.

"Harleshausen-Benni" could be translated from the youth language as a child from a wealthy suburban family.

In the computer game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) you can steer your vehicle through different game worlds.

In the Kassel case, however, it was not an uninformed driver who thought he was in a computer game, but a police officer who apparently noticed the steps too late or not as such during a patrol, police spokesman Matthias Mänz confirms.

Fortunately, because the vehicle was traveling at walking speed, nothing happened to anyone.

The patrol car was also only slightly damaged and the officers were able to free themselves from the unfortunate situation.

Since everyone is doing well, one can look at the mishap in retrospect with a slight wink, says Mänz.

He too has received the picture several times since Wednesday afternoon.

The colleague will probably have to reckon with one or the other saying not only from the group of colleagues.

But he too will probably be able to smile about it at some point.

With a photo and a video, a police officer at the Kassel Christmas market also became a minor celebrity on the internet.

The "Richard Gere among the German police officers" goes viral.
