Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko considered that the Kosovo authorities are heading towards escalation, and Western countries must put pressure on them and force them to abandon their hardline plans and fulfill their obligations.
Groshko told Sputnik today: "We are following the development of the situation in and around Kosovo with great concern, and we see that its authorities are heading towards escalation, while it is clear to us that it relies on the explicit and covert support of the European Union and Washington."
He called on everyone who influences Kosovo's course to put pressure on it towards finding a political solution and force it to abandon its combat plans fraught with destabilizing the Balkans.
It is noteworthy that Russia has previously called on the Kosovo authorities, the United States and the European Union to stop provocations over the Kosovo region and respect the rights of Serbs there, stressing that applying the rules for the forced replacement of Serbs' personal documents is a step towards expelling them from Kosovo.
