A dog named "Django" occupied a car in Herrsching on New Year's Eve.

He spread out in the footwell and stayed there stubbornly.

Herrsching – “Django” has started the new year with the police.

The one-and-a-half-year-old dog, a mix of a Doberman and an English bulldog, had previously amazed a driver – he hijacked her vehicle.

Shortly after the turn of the year at midnight, the woman called the police.

She was walking along Rieder Strasse when she noticed something next to her car at the junction with Gachenaustrasse.

At first she thought it was a deer - so the woman stopped.

However, it wasn't a deer, but "Django".

The report from the Herrschinger police said: "The dog took the opportunity of the open driver's door and then hid in the footwell of the vehicle, so that the driver could not drive the approximately ten meters to the police station."

Of course, the dog couldn't stay in the footwell, which is why police officers picked him up there and brought him to the station.

Since after hours no one had reported missing the dog, he should be taken to the Starnberg animal shelter.

So "Django" was allowed back into a car, this time one with "Police" written on it.

He didn't stay there long.

The officers were out with the dog for just five minutes when the owner from Herrsching reported - "Django" was able to go home a little later.

He made a good impression: the dog was "well behaved," the police said.
