In Mexico, the members of the plenary session of the Supreme Court of Justice elected a woman to preside over the highest court for the first time: she is Norma Lucía Piña Hernández.
The 11 ministers voted in a process marked by the controversy over the plagiarism of a bachelor's thesis, a controversy in which Yasmín Esquivel —one of the aspiring ministers for the position— was involved, who was ruled out in the second round of voting.
