Since 1984 - with a two-year Corona break in 2020 and 2021 - the people of Munich have been warming up for the new year at the Munich RoadRunner Club (MRRC) New Year's Eve run.
And it was really warm this time!
Munich - With record temperatures of up to 20 degrees, more than 2000 people went on the circuit through the Olympic Park in Munich - on routes of five or ten kilometers - for children there was a two-kilometer route.
In the

, five participants tell why they are going to start - and what they want to leave behind.

New Year's Eve Run in Munich: No excuses
I'm running this run with two role models and friends who never have excuses in anything they do.
That's what I've also decided to do: finally stop with the excuses of the last few years.
I had a break in my studies this year and it helped me to deal more with myself and set my goals again.

Munich farewell to colleagues with sport
For me, the New Year's Eve run marks the end of the running year.
My colleague is retiring this year, so it's something special to run with him again today.
With the turn of the year, the strife all over the world should finally come to an end.
Everything material can be balanced, but health and peace are priceless.

set me goals
In fact, I don't have to and don't want to complete anything, but I finally have the day off today and I've always wanted to run.
Next year I have more sporting goals.
I signed up for the half marathon in Hamburg and also gave it to my boyfriend for Christmas.
Now I just want to end the year.

After a difficult year: a new start in life
I would like to motivate myself again for the new year because I ran too little last year.
I would certainly like to finally end the past year, both professionally and privately - which was not so easy.
Unlike everyone else, I don't want to start tomorrow, but lay the foundation for 2023 today.

80-year-old never wants to be the last at the Munich run
I wish for a better new year, although I can also be content.
Unfortunately I only run alone in my age group, but I always compare myself to the other classes and I'm happy if I'm not last.
I hope that the energy crisis, the war and inflation will finally come to an end, and that prices will fall again.
