Schwaig – The tragic accidental death of the father of four and TSV 1860 ultras Moritz Walter also shook the members of the Schwaiger cultural association Moosmotor.

The decision to support the family of the victim was quickly made.

The response to the charity run by Schwaig on New Year's Eve was huge.

Around 200 people started the running course, including prominent faces from the Munich Lions.

All proceeds benefit the donation initiative "All for Moritz".

Michael Miesbauer, one of the five chairmen of the association, was enthusiastic about the proceeds.

Roughly estimated, 4000 euros came together on Saturday morning: "That's gigantic, we are all super satisfied."

He knew Walter personally very well: "We played football against his team from SC Inhauser Moos, and he often attended our events in Schwaig." No action in the world could make amends for his accidental death.

"But we try to do our small part to support his family," said Miesbauer.

Around 35 children made their way over 1000 meters, over 160 adults tried their hand at the five or even ten kilometers.

The organizers refrained from timekeeping or a list of winners, because it was ultimately purely for a good cause.

Nevertheless, the little ones started with full ambition, and nine-year-old Lucia Kreuzpointner from Schwaig was the first to cross the finish line.

She couldn't really decide whether she was really happy about it or didn't care about the place: "But I really enjoyed running here." But all the other girls and boys also got a big round of applause when they crossed the finish line and medals as a reward.

Among the adults, there were prominent participants.

With Yannick Deichmann and Stefan Lex, two professionals from the third division soccer team TSV 1860 Munich started over ten kilometers, and TSV Vice President Hans Sitzberger also made the rounds.

“What happened to Moritz cannot be offset by anything.

But we help where we can," he said.

By "we" he meant, among other things, his running pack, with whom he regularly walks a few kilometers.

The vice-president also emphasized that there was a greater connection to the casualty because he had always supported the lions as an ultra.

In addition to the good cause, the New Year's run is mainly about having fun running: "I definitely think it's great that the run is being held here in Schwaig."

A quartet from the newly founded women's team of TSV 1860 also took part: Cheyenne Franz, Silke Dehling, Sandra Böhnke and Vroni Seemann, in addition to the joint training sessions, also often start together in runs.

But they have never taken part in a New Year's Eve run: "This is a premiere for us, we are only too happy to support the good cause."

Barni Eder, one of the deceased's best friends, won the five-kilometer run.

He and some other former team members from SC Inhauser Moos came to Schwaig: "It's a brutal story and we're all still shaken," said Eder.

He never expected to be the first to cross the finish line: "I haven't done any sport at all for a while because of an injury, and it's also the winter break in football." half but was up front, I decided to go for it.”

The first of the ten-kilometer run brought more running experience with him: Dominik Ratzek from Freising took part in the Munich marathon last year and regularly runs with his friends Theresa Hennemann, Thomas Pellmeyer and Stefan Diller.

"Ballern instead of Böllern" is their motto for New Year's Eve.

Shooting stands for fast running: “We are all very passionate and would have gone running on December 31st anyway.

The Schwaiger event was of course a great opportunity for us.”

Gradually, they all arrived at their destination on the Schwaiger village square, more or less visibly exhausted.

Afterwards they could look forward to a rich buffet free of charge for them - they had already paid their share of the high donation with their 25 euro participation fee.

There was goulash soup and a large selection of drinks for the spectators - all organized by the members of the Moosmotor association.

There have already been some benefit campaigns from this in the past, but never on such a large scale.

In addition to his hard-working colleagues, Miesbauer also thanked the Schwaig fire brigade.

Their members ensured safety along the route.

For the run itself, some experts from Trisport Erding helped with the planning – Miesbauer also wanted to say a big thank you to them.

The fact that the Vice President and two professionals from TSV 1860 took part in the run is a nice confirmation that the right thing was done that day, the organizer was happy to conclude: "Even if it was of course associated with effort, it was we all had great fun.

And the amount of money donated is just gigantic."

that will only be determined after a count in the next few days.

Miesbauer: "We will then publish it on our website at www.moosmotor.de."
