Ralph Siegel missed his own New Year's Eve dinner.

After a fall, the 77-year-old was checked through at the Harlaching Clinic.

Munich – It was supposed to be a nice end to a not-so-good year: Ralph and Laura Siegel had prepared everything for an elegant New Year's Eve dinner in their Grünwald villa.

But instead of toasting happily with champagne, Ralph Siegel was in the Harlachingen hospital with sleeping pills and painkillers.

A few hours earlier, late Friday afternoon, the 77-year-old fell in the entrance area of his house - completely unexpectedly and without warning.

He hit his head and bled.

"I just passed out," he says when the

columnist reaches him in the hospital.

"I got up, sat down, plaster on it and thought it would be fine."

But it didn't work anymore.

When he tried to get up again, "I fell over again.

The emergency doctor then took me straight to the Harlachinger hospital and there they checked me out completely, including for a stroke and pulmonary embolism," he said on Monday.

Luckily, none of that was the cause, but a mix of his many medications, which he accidentally took all at once.

"It was my fault alone."

Siegel recently had radiation therapy because metastases had been discovered again.

He was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007.

But Siegel is a fighter – he works tirelessly on his music.

He has just submitted a new title for the ESC.

A fantastic sound with the voice of the attractive actress and singer Jennifer Siemann.

Ralph Siegel: "It was a modest year for me"

She, too, was to toast the new year and future successes with her seal.

Twelve guests were invited.

"The table arrangement was already made, the Italian caterer ordered, it should be a really nice party with my dearest friends." Carolin Reiber, PR lady Simone Petrov and some of his younger artists had also agreed.

"I've decided that I don't want to spoil the evening for my guests.

You should celebrate.” He sent a message home via cell phone.

His Laura stayed at his bedside until the evening, then she flitted to the guests in Grünwald, alone.

The doctors didn't want to let Siegel go at all, they gave him painkillers and a sleeping pill.

"I fell asleep at 10 p.m."

He would have liked to say goodbye to the old year.

"It's been a humble year for me," Siegel said.

"Except for the two musical premieres, those were my highlights."

And they will be again in 2023!

Zeppelin is already on the program in Füssen in March - and if his "Eurovision feeling", as he says, doesn't deceive him, then he'll land another hit there.

On Monday afternoon he was allowed to go home – and to the studio!
