The New Year's swim by the Moosburg water rescue service attracted 80 bathers to the Aquarpark on Sunday.

They all enjoyed a bath in the "bacherl warm" water, as Mayor Josef Dollinger said.

Moosburg

- The weather was record-breaking, the mood was spring-like - only the mark of 100 bathers could not be cracked.

80 people threw themselves into the Aquapark bathing lake on New Year's Day and missed the record with the sound limit of 100 people bathing.

With double-digit temperatures, a green meadow and eight degrees warm water, the traditional start of the bathing at the 21st edition of the water rescue service was quite record-breaking.

Moosburg's Mayor Josef Dollinger has been there since 2008, and this time after the bathing round he found a manageable challenge: "This time it was bacherlwarm.

Usually it tingles in the fingers, but this time it took a long time.” The record number of almost 100 bathers was missed by a few swimmers, but there was an illustrious field.

A group of geocachers came from Regensburg, and a group of almost 20 people from Poland plunged into the cool, but not icy water this time.

One or the other swam a long lap, the boys jumped off the jetty and Moosburg's living legend Ferdinand Winterstötter proudly announced that he would move on to the Aquapark to bathe in Langenpreising.

Nandlstadt's mayor Gerhard Betz has been at the start of the New Year's swim in Moosburg for many years - this time after a spontaneous rescue service shift.

Josef Dollinger was not the only mayor who started the new year with a swim.

Nandlstadt's iconic town hall chief Gerhard Betz was also back at the start after a tough night.

"I stepped in for the rescue service," he said of his voluntary commitment, "then I still had three hours of sleep." After the round in the aqua park, the mayor of Nandlstadt was wide awake again.

Moosburgs Wasserwacht was once again a great host.

With a rubber dinghy you were ready for accidents on the water.

After the swim, there was goulash soup and punch to warm up for the bathers and some spectators who cheered on friends and family members.

The lifeguard had set up a piggy bank to cover the expenses.
