Mystery after a macabre discovery Sunday morning northwest of Nice, near the banks of the Var.
Around 6:30 am, boulevard du Mercantour, a fire broke out in a disused box located close to a hostel.
Quickly returned to the scene, the firefighters discovered the charred body of a man there, as confirmed by the
Figaro
the Departmental Security of the Alpes-Maritimes on Monday.
Was it an accident or arson?
Did the victim die in the fire or did she succumb to an attack?
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Security to establish the circumstances of the death of this man whose identity remains unknown.
An autopsy is to be performed soon.
Formerly a commercial premises, the box concerned had been squatted for several years, in particular by
“marginal and undocumented people”
, according to a police source.
