According to data received by Walla today (Monday), during the year 2022, 11 hospitalized patients were reported to the Ministry of Health who were treated after taking fake drugs and preparations and experiencing various side effects, some of them life-threatening.

Wow!

It was learned that among the hospitalized, six consumed Nice Guy, two took slimming pills and one took stimulant pills.

All the hospitalized are young people up to the age of 30, some in adolescence.

The slimming pills were consumed more by women, but the Nice Guy pills were actually consumed by men.

Although the number of those hospitalized is still not high, the substances are becoming more and more dangerous, as this year they have already found ecstasy in the diet pills.

Most of the hospitalized patients reported that they purchased diet pills that contained stimulants, and experienced side effects that included high blood pressure, loss of consciousness, arrhythmias, and psychiatric side effects.

Some of the patients were exposed to other harmful substances such as anabolic steroids, which caused hospitalizations with cardiac side effects, and in one case a young man even underwent a catheterization that saved his life.

In cases where young people were hospitalized as a result of the use of Nice Guy, side effects were psychotic accompanied by anxiety, paranoia and in some cases bleeding.

The data also shows that hospitalized patients experienced long-term injuries, some cardiac injuries and some psychiatric injuries with severe damage.

Dr. Roni Berkowitz, director of the Department of Enforcement and Supervision at the Ministry of Health, explains that the Ministry of Health is working to close down pharmacies or weight loss centers that sell these pills, but in recent years most of the sales are made on social media: "This year we saw a step up in the dangerousness of the counterfeit substances sold in the market.

For example, we found ecstasy and other prohibited dangerous substances mixed in pills intended for weight loss.

It is important to understand that fake products can be dangerous to health and even endanger human life."

During the past year, the Ministry of Health issued nine different warnings to the public about fake preparations and perfumes sold in the market, including fake slimming pills, impotence preparations that contained dangerous substances that are prohibited for use and fake ampoules for fertility treatments.

The ministry also worked during the last year to seize fake preparations and medicines, which are sold in the market without a license, and tens of thousands of fake pills of various types were seized, and a factory for forging preparations was also found.

The office continues to operate even at this time in cooperation with the Customs Department and the Israel Police in locating and prosecuting dealers in illegal, stolen and counterfeit drugs.

The Ministry of Health reminds that medicines should only be purchased in places approved for this, such as pharmacies, pharmacy chains and GSL positions approved by the Ministry of Health and with a doctor's approval.

You should avoid buying pills and preparations through social networks and unfamiliar websites, since the quality of the drugs sold by merchants on the Internet and social networks is unknown, and they may not be effective and unsafe.
