When we look at the declarations of the leaders of the major European countries or the institutions of the European Union (EU), we are struck by their high level of self-satisfaction.
For a generation, Europe has progressed technologically less quickly than America, but no one seems responsible.
Worse, no one is seriously looking for the roots of this relative decline.
No one has ever questioned the reasons for the failure of the Lisbon program launched on 24 March 2000 by the European Council, which aimed to define for the EU
'a new strategic objective with the aim of strengthening employment, economic reform and social cohesion in the context of a knowledge-based economy”.
If there is a region of the free world where innovation thrives, it is America and not Europe.
European brains are at least as capable as American brains of advancing the knowledge economy - and often demonstrate it on American soil.
