The murderers of the soldier Avraham Bromberg were sentenced to death but will be released in the coming days to their homes in Wadi Ara, after serving forty years in prison. The family of the deceased soldier: "This is the first test for the right-wing government in the war against terrorism"

The murderers of the soldier Avraham Bromberg, who were sentenced to death in 1983, are expected to be released from prison in the coming days.

This coming Thursday, one of the murderers, Karim Younes, is expected to be released from Hadrim prison, 40 years after he was arrested.

Two weeks later, this is how his cousin Maher Younes will leave K'al Kitziot.

Today they are 64 years old and they are expected to return to their homes in Kfar Aara not far from the scene of the murder and Bromberg's family home in Zichron Yaakov.

According to the family, all indications show that the two did not abandon their ideological path.

"The PA and Fatah have been running a sympathy campaign for them as Palestinian heroes for the past month", they claim that the two would also receive 12 thousand shekels from the PA every month.

The New Arab website founded by Azmi Beshara, who lives in London, reported today that ahead of his release Karim Younes sent a message through his lawyer in which he wrote: "I emphasize that we were and still are proud of our people, wherever they are in the homeland and in the Diaspora, who embraced us and our cause for all those years , and be faithful to our cause and the cause of our people, which always gives us renewed hope and firm certainty in the rightness of our cause and the sincerity of our affiliation, the feasibility and essence of our struggle."

Israel did everything to bring the killers to justice after they were captured, about two years after the murder.

They were tried by the military court in Ramla, which sentenced the commander of the squad, Sami Younes, to life imprisonment and the two members of the squad to the death penalty.

Avi Bromberg's parents, Sara and Haim Bromberg, demanded that the death sentence be carried out immediately, but this did not happen and four years after the verdict, their sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.

Years later, Sami Younes was also sentenced to 40 years in prison.

He did most of it in Shata prison and his release was also supposed to be in January 2023 this month.

But he was released in the Shalit deal and returned to his village in Wadi Ara.

The family has insisted over the years that the terrorist cousins will serve the full period behind bars, and now, after it will come to an end in the coming days, they demand that the citizenship of the two be revoked and that they be expelled from Israel.

"This is the first test for the right-wing government in the war against terrorism," the family says.

The deceased soldier's nephew, Avi Bromberg, who bears his name, and even though he is a resident of Zichron Ya'akov, told Walla, "This is not our personal struggle. These are vile and despicable murderers who murdered a soldier on nationalistic grounds and have no place in the State of Israel."

The "Choosing Life" forum of the bereaved families and victims of terrorism, which promoted the bill to revoke the citizenship and deport terrorists with blue identity cards, together with Knesset members Orit Strock and Avi Dichter, responded: "We appeal to the ministers of the new government and demand that the legislation be completed immediately. The principle behind The amendment to the law is simple and clear: terrorists who received terrorist rewards after working in the service of terrorist organizations and carrying out terrorist attacks - will lose their right to be called Israelis and will be removed to PA territories.

There is a consensus on the law in the Israeli public and broad support in the Knesset as well.

The ministers of the government and members of the Knesset committed to us and even signed the bill and now the time has come for action.

The legislative procedure must be completed immediately and without delay."

According to Bromberg's nephew, "This law is a law that will create deterrence. An Israeli identity card is a privilege. An Israeli citizen cannot hold an identity card in one hand and murder a soldier with the other, and it is impossible for such a murderer to be released from prison and walk around as one person in our country. All the heads of the coalition from across the political spectrum have pledged For the enactment of the law that denies the citizenship of terrorists with blue identity cards and we demand from all the ministers of the Israeli government and especially the minister of the interior that it is within his authority, to act immediately to deny citizenship and deport them."
