Zheng Kunsheng, the former deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, passed away at the age of 78.

The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government issued a message of condolences stating that Zheng Kunsheng made great contributions to Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability during his tenure.

The obituary of the China Building Energy Conservation Association stated that Zheng Kunsheng, the first chairman of the association, died of illness in Beijing on December 30 last year, and his body was cremated yesterday (1st).


According to the condolence message issued by the Liaison Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Zheng Kunsheng worked in Hong Kong from 1999 to 2009.

The message of condolence pointed out that Zheng Kunsheng resolutely implemented the central government's policy on Hong Kong and made important contributions to Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability.

Zheng Kunsheng later served as the vice minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the chairman of the China Zoological Association of the Ministry of Construction, and the chairman of the China Building Energy Conservation Association.

The obituary issued by the China Building Energy Conservation Association only explained that Zheng Kunsheng passed away in Beijing due to illness. According to the family's wishes, the funeral was kept simple and there was no farewell ceremony for the body. He was cremated yesterday (1st) at the Babaoshan Funeral Home.
