The vocal ensemble Canto Vivace presented highlights from opera, operetta, film and musicals at the New Year's concert.

Forstern

– With sparkling sounds into a dewy 2023: The New Year's concert under the overall direction of Konrad Huber, organized by the Forstern singing group, provided a good mood and relaxed exhilaration on Sunday evening with highlights from opera, operetta, film and musicals in the well-attended small gym.

The vocal ensemble Canto Vivace, with its excellent vocals, the respectable singing duo Cordula Schuster (soprano) and Karo Khachatryan (tenor), a small, fine instrumental ensemble with Rosie Hemingway (piano), Angelika Lichtenstern and Kurt Wagner (violins), Sandor Farkas (viola), Gregor Barbica (cello) and Herbert Seibl (double bass) as well as Edwin Karbaumer and Felix Vogt (percussion) created an enjoyable firework of sounds.

An inspiring alternative to loud New Year's Eve banging was experienced, which again this year put a strain on animals and the environment.

The atmospheric stage decoration contributed to the atmosphere of the New Year's concert.

The string ensemble started out purely instrumentally in Mozart's fairytale opera "The Magic Flute" with its imaginative melodies.

After the overture, the bird catcher paid his respects, Monostatos lamented his lovesickness, and the Queen of the Night became the imperious avenging angel.

With the wish "Der Friede lebe" from the Mozart opera "Idomeneo" one heard a musical message with topical explosiveness.

Night owls went with the moon choir right into the middle of the comic-fantastic opera "The Merry Wives of Windsor" by Otto Nicolai.

"Yours is my whole heart," confessed the tenor, who traveled to Franz Lehár's "Land of Smiles".

The soprano made a detour to Robert Stolz's "Weiße Rössl" with "Mein Liebeslied muss ein Walzer sein".

"Rosen aus Tirol" from the operetta "Der Vogelhändler" by Carl Zeller was given away as a duet.

With Franz Lehár's “lips are silent” from the operetta “The Merry Widow”, the soloist duo and the instrumental ensemble headed for the break, with the choir members dancing out of the hall in three-four time.

The second part focused on the musical genre.

The vocal ensemble Canto Vivace also demonstrated its versatility here.

Well-known pieces from “The Lion King” and “Phantom of the Opera” delighted the audience.

Film music was also represented with the full-sounding “Conquest of paradise” and the reveling “You'll be in my heart”.

There was also a homage to the contemporary composer Karl Jenkins with the rhythmically striking instrumental piece "Palladio" and the choral work "Adiemus".

At the end of the festive and happy New Year's concert, the multi-faceted performances were honored with great final applause.
