Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki announced the formation of two legal teams, locally and internationally, to follow up on the decision of the United Nations General Assembly to adopt a Palestinian draft resolution, calling on the International Court of Justice to consider the issue of the Israeli occupation.

WAFA news agency quoted al-Maliki as saying today: The United Nations legal department is working to publicize the file to be submitted to the International Court of Justice, indicating that the State of Palestine will provide it with all the information necessary to complete the file.

Al-Maliki described the General Assembly's decision as "historic", which will lead to revealing the truth about the occupation and ending its continuous deception of the world regarding its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Regarding the task of the team that was decided to be formed to move at the international level, Al-Maliki pointed out that he would discuss making a set of recommendations for mechanisms to mobilize support for the State of Palestine.

On the 31st of last month, the United Nations General Assembly adopted, by majority, a Palestinian draft resolution, calling on the International Court of Justice to consider the issue of the Israeli occupation. The resolution received a vote of 87 countries, and 25 countries and the occupying entity opposed it, while 53 countries abstained from voting.

The permanent representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, confirmed the day before yesterday that the next step, after the approval of the United Nations General Assembly by the majority, to go to the International Tribunal to consider the issue of occupation, is to hold a meeting with the legal department of the court next week on collecting materials, documents and studies related to the subject.
