From January 13, 2023, working groups for representatives of the catering trade, clubs and residents will deal with the topic of Bozner Markt 2024 in Mittenwald in detail.

After that, a concept should be developed.

Time is of the essence: perhaps the historical spectacle could already take place during the Pentecost holidays.

Mittenwald – Christoph Szonn has filled 20 pages.

On two evenings he listened for two hours each in the TSV hall.

Noted, logged, finally put everything that was said on paper.

Ideas and suggestions were literally bubbling up from the visitors.

They high-fived in a circle of chairs, let themselves be talked out of, discussed euphorically.

The pages that Szonn compiled after the two kick-off events on the future of the Bolzano market in 2024 are a smorgasbord of knowledge and suggestions.

In short: The foundation with which Katharina Neuner, Dr.

Axel Barwich and he from the middlewood agency now want to continue working to give the medieval spectacle a new and legally viable concept.

Now it's time for the hot phase.

From the many ideas, a tangible plan should emerge.

Working groups are now planned for this from Friday, January 13th.

Representatives of the catering trade, clubs, those involved in the supporting programme, residents and retailers then come together at round tables.

These workshops are similar to the so-called "World Café" a few weeks ago, when the future of the former indoor pool area was discussed in Mittenwald town hall.

The future of the Bolzano market is discussed at round tables

Three groups with a total of up to 20 people discuss questions about the Bolzano market at three tables.

The groups switch tables after about 20 minutes, then build on the other group's answers.

This input will then flow into the final development of the concept from March.

The moderators have not yet revealed which questions will be asked in detail.

"We're still working on them until shortly before the workshop." Szonn also wants everyone to attend the working groups with a completely impartial and open-minded attitude.

He only reveals this much: "They are sometimes very provocative." After all, you want to tease out all the potential problems that can arise from the participants, you want to know where it pinches.

Because so far there have been no very critical comments.

The timing of the market could change - previously it was in August

Szonn and his colleagues want to sharpen the picture of how the Bolzano market could take place in 2024.

A number of tendencies have already emerged at the two kick-off events in November and December.

The people of Mittenwald don't want a kitschy mass event.

The location is to grow out of Obermarkt and Hochstrasse in the direction of Gries and the Puit spa complex.

More attention should be paid to locals again, and authenticity should play a greater role in the future.

"And we have to know who you're making the Bolzano market for: for locals or tourists, or find a compromise in between," says Szonn.

The timing of the market could also change.

It is not set in stone that it should definitely take place in August as it has been up to now.

"The suggestion came up more often to move it to the off-season," says Szonn.

"Especially from the restaurateurs." August Mittenwald is packed anyway.

Some would prioritize the Pentecost holidays.

"Before the tourist season starts."

Moderators firmly believe in the success of the working groups

Szonn and Neuner are convinced that the workshops will be crowned with success.

"We were amazed at how well the cooperation worked at the opening events," says Neuner.

In fact: the chair circle was well attended.

The locals made all requests to speak across the board.

The middlewood actors also received a positive response from the numerous restaurateurs and participants who visited them when they carried out hundreds of invitations to the working groups in January and February before Christmas.

"We got into a lot of conversations there," says Szonn.

"There really wasn't anyone who said we didn't want the Bolzano market anymore."

Dates of the working groups

The working groups for the conception of the Bolzano market build on the two kick-off events at the end of 2022.

The restaurateurs will start on Friday, January 13th, from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in the meeting room of the town hall.

In the afternoon from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. it is the turn of the clubs and groups that were involved in the supporting program or want to take part in it in the future.

On Saturday, January 14, the residents should have their say.

An invitation has already been sent to all those affected.

The next workshops will then take place on Friday, February 10 (gastronomy) and on Saturday, February 11 (residents and retail).

Registrations are urgently needed in advance at mail@middlewood.biz.
