A check on the German-Swiss border brought an amazing discovery.

One car was clearly overcrowded.

That had consequences.

Weil am Rhein – Curious incident at the border between Germany and Switzerland near Weil am Rhein: Swiss customs officers were routinely going about their work there on Tuesday (January 3) when a car caught their eye.

So they stopped the vehicle and were amazed when they checked the occupants.

Officials discover a car with seven seats and 23 occupants on the border between Germany and Switzerland

The car had a total of seven seats, but that was far from enough for all the people who were seated in the stopped car.

One by one, men, women and children got out of the vehicle.

In the end, the officers counted a whopping 23 people who had all been in the car.

According to the police, nine adults and 14 children were among them.

The journey should not have been particularly comfortable for the 23 occupants, especially since they had apparently traveled quite a long distance before they were checked by the Swiss border officials.

According to federal authorities, the overcrowded car came from Poland.

There the driver, who is resident in Switzerland, had taken in the family members.

Fortunately, none of the 23 people were injured during the more than unsafe car journey south.

The driver is now threatened with a high fine – the extended family of 23 must continue their journey separately

The driver is now threatened with a hefty fine from the Swiss authorities because he has transported several people without adequate security, the police said.

The border officials had initially denied the members of the extended family entry into Switzerland.

Only after checking the personal data was this granted to all 23 car occupants.

However, they had to continue their journey separately from the border to Bern, a police spokesman said.

Only the prescribed seven people were allowed to sit in the car.

A much scarier case occurred some time ago on the border between Germany and the Netherlands.
