According to Wafaa, her hobby for manual and artistic work was shaped by her features since her childhood after being influenced by her mother, a teacher of art education, Kamila Al-Marwad, and her father, photographer Riyad Ballan, as well as the presence in the midst of an environment of her relatives of plastic artists, which created a basis for her work that began with participation in school exhibitions of various handicrafts until that It developed and expanded gradually in later periods.

Wafaa indicated that her actual experience began in 2003 after receiving support from her husband, as she started with decorating cardboard dough with glue on glass, then designing usable wooden figures, to employing drawing on pieces of glass, pottery, and pumpkins of medium and small sizes, using acrylic colors, with the formation of a color mixture that serves everyone. completed piece and its purpose.

Despite what it takes to draw on any small piece of skill and accuracy, Wafaa did not find it difficult. Rather, as she mentioned during her interview with the SANA reporter, she felt pleasure with every shape she drew, especially on the tiny cups, cups and flasks.

Wafaa, who participated in a number of exhibitions in As-Suwayda governorate, was not satisfied with drawing and designing wooden models, but she was also good at designing multi-use home accessories from different materials such as “brocade, burlap, foam, and others.”

The 47-year-old fulfills ambitions to spread her work further, expand her scope of work with various materials, participate in external exhibitions, and establish a large permanent showroom of her own.

According to Wafaa Ghassan Abu Hamdan's husband, his wife has a delicate artistic sense and has distinctive ideas for work, and uses materials that few people know how to deal with. She also helped many students with artistic projects within schools and was able to combine craft and art together.

Wafaa, according to the plastic artist and art education teacher, Sahar Masoud, was talented since her childhood, and during her teaching to her in the preparatory stage, she was fluent in designing various handicrafts, then she succeeded in employing drawing in them within a distinguished experience.
