The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Al-Hasakah Governorate stated that the farmers have completed the full implementation of the sub-plan for cultivating the rain-fed wheat crop, almost entirely for irrigated wheat.
The head of the Plant Production Department in the Agriculture Directorate, Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the area cultivated with rain-fed wheat in the safe areas exceeded what was planned, with an implementation rate of 114 percent, with a cultivated area of 13,500 hectares, while the implementation rate of irrigated wheat reached 98.5 percent, with a cultivated area of 6,700. hectares, and the rate of implementation of rain-fed barley reached 60 percent, with a cultivated area of 16,500 hectares.
Bilal pointed out that the cultivation of these two crops is about to end, and that the state of plant growth is generally good, but the rain-fed areas are in need of rain after precipitation has been withheld for nearly twenty days.
It is noteworthy that the safe agricultural areas are concentrated in the eastern countryside of the city of Hasakah, and the countryside surrounding the city of Qamishli.
