Krün fire brigade has to extinguish a kitchen fire in a restaurant on the village square.

A technical defect caused the gas stove to burst into flames.

Krün – Fortunately, the local operators reacted in good time and were therefore able to prevent a catastrophe.

A fire broke out in the kitchen of a restaurant on the Krün village square at around 7.40 p.m. on New Year's Day.

A gas stove caught fire due to a technical defect.

The flames darted like lightning behind and below the hearth.

The local operator was able to throw two fire blankets on the fire in time and thus prevent worse.

"Access to the source of the fire was very difficult," says Anton Simon, commander of the Krün volunteer fire brigade.

He and his comrades arrived with five vehicles and 45 emergency services.

Gas stove had to be completely removed

Because of the nature of the gas stove had to be completely removed.

"Only then was it possible for us to extinguish the fire using heavy respiratory protection equipment." Since the situation was unclear at the beginning of the operation, the Krün fire department triggered a so-called "full alarm", which is why the comrades from Mittenwald were also alerted.

"But then they weren't used anymore." After one and a half hours, the firefighters were able to go home again, the fire had been extinguished and any embers destroyed.
