The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in the As-Suwayda Governorate announced an improvement in the rates of cultivation of wheat and barley crops, during the past two weeks, after the recent rains and an improvement in the amount of fuel allocated for agricultural operations.
The Director of Agriculture, Eng. Ayham Hamed, told SANA reporter today that the areas cultivated with rain-fed wheat increased to 10,544 hectares, or 30 percent of the total agricultural plan, irrigated wheat to 420 hectares, or 71 percent, and barley to 9,132 hectares, or 43 percent.
Hamed pointed out that the cultivation of the barley crop continues during the next few days and for wheat until the end of this month, and may continue in some locations until the beginning of the next month, indicating that the Directorate provides diesel material for the need for agricultural operations gradually according to the quantities available for agricultural purposes out of the quantities that come to the governorate. .
The plan for wheat cultivation in As-Suwayda for the current season is 35,038 hectares for rain-fed and 587 hectares for irrigated, while the barley cultivation plan is 21,384 hectares.
