Always attracted many visitors: the fireworks on New Year's Day in Oberammergau.

It would have celebrated its tenth anniversary this time.
Nothing will come of it.
The popular Oberammergau fireworks on New Year's Day will no longer be available.
Among other things, for environmental reasons.

Announced that Pro Gast Tourismus is refraining from the popular fireworks on New Year's Day in Oberammergau.
A message that sparked a discussion.
Ten comments followed in no time.
The authors "have exchanged blows," says the chairman of the association.
Pros and cons of fireworks.
That fit the bill.
Opinions differ on the subject.
"We would split people." Kraus and her team want to avoid that.

The event would have celebrated its tenth anniversary on the evening of January 1, 2023.
After the fact, so to speak.
Because in the past two years the pyro show has been canceled due to Corona.
In the meantime, the landlord association had the idea of questioning this tourist offer.
"We are a nature park region," emphasizes Kraus.
A fireworks display is difficult to get along with, the chairwoman thinks.
"At some point you have to take responsibility." The energy crisis and most recently the debate about the light spectacle of "Bad Bayersoien in Flammen", which had flared up in the municipal council, encouraged her in her decision.
The club had already met them at this point.

The demand is still there.
Guests had already inquired about the organization-intensive event in the tourist information.
In the past, thousands of spectators followed the professional spectacle on the sports grounds with mulled wine, sausages and music.
The community always provided the space.

New Year's fireworks in Oberammergau will not take place - "Will find an alternative"
Now Kraus and her comrades-in-arms have reached a point where they have to come up with something new.
"We're thinking about it," says the chairman.
There is still no concrete alternative solution.
But Kraus is convinced: "We will find an alternative that is attractive to tourists." Perhaps, she thinks, it is now time to organize an event in the summer.
Because there is one thing that Pro Gast does not want to aim for with the fireworks off.
"We don't want great sadness."
However, Oberammergau does not present itself completely without offers in this holiday-crowded time around Christmas and New Year's Eve.
The Oberammergau companies from the trade department of the association have started their Christmas campaign "Ammer-Taler" again this year.
On Thursday (December 29th) the raffle will take place at Sternplatz (from 5 p.m.) - with hospitality from the bachelor club and music from a DJ (from 3 p.m.).
