The New Year's concert by the Marktkapelle Au celebrated a successful comeback: around 600 visitors in the sold-out Hopfenlandhalle were enthusiastic.

Au/Hallertau

- The New Year's concert has lost none of its appeal - the Marktkapelle Au provides a feast for the ears even after the pandemic.

Those were the two insights on Sunday after three hours, during which 600 visitors in the sold-out Hopfenlandhalle were offered lots of entertainment in addition to music.

Very large numbers of celebrities made the pilgrimage to the Hallertau on the first day of the year - including district administrator Helmut Petz and his wife, numerous mayors of the area, district and district councilors and, from the clerical side, the two pastors Clemens Voss and Stephan Rauscher.

The highest-ranking guest was Minister of State Florian Herrmann, and the chairman of the Marktkapelle's development association, Jürgen Hofer, also welcomed Christian Kühn, the BSSB state marksman champion, in the front row.

Because the Marktkapelle is the "house band" of the Sportschützenbund, which is why Kühn wanted to see for himself whether the formation survived the pandemic without any loss of quality.

And neither he nor the other visitors were disappointed.

The 44 musicians really got going right from the start, any doubts were quickly gone.

The guarantor was of course conductor Georg Neumaier, who has been swinging the baton in Au since 2017.

The composition of the pieces was coherent and varied, the first part of the concert being more classical with marches, polkas and even the sounds of waltzes in the piece "Enjoy every day".

Then there was a break.

Of course, this was eagerly used to distribute the classic “A guads Neis” wishes to the people while enjoying sparkling wine, Pilsner, orange juice, pretzels and sandwiches.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The interval ended with the trumpet call, and finally the youngsters of the market band took their places on the stage.

The young musicians' initial stage fright was quickly gone, and after two pieces the audience enthusiastically applauded the girls and boys led by Verena Bauer.

The calls for encores were also heard.

Around 600 visitors came to the New Year's concert - including (from right) Pastor Stephan Rauscher, Pastor Clemens Voss and Mayor of Auer Hans Sailer with his wife Ursula and (from 3rd from left) District Administrator Helmut Petz, Minister of State Florian Herrmann and BSSB state rifleman Christian Kühn.

Then the "professionals" of the Marktkapelle took over the reins again.

Speaking of professionals.

Presenter Christl Sittenauer, who has been an integral part of the concert since 2018, also proved to be this.

The 40-year-old was a perfect link between the band and the audience, whose nuances, presented with great wit and dedication, once again enriched the event.

It is not for nothing that Christl from Hopfenland has been part of the ensemble of the Munich Laughing and Shooting Society since spring 2020.

The final spurt of the market band followed with drums and trumpets, in which medleys from TV series from Schwarzwaldklinik to Derrick or comic films from Bugs Bunny to Paulchen Panther particularly stood out.

Like the youngsters, the "big" musicians were only allowed to go home after several encores from 6.30 p.m.

For Rene Forster, the New Year's concert paid off in two ways: he not only enjoyed the music, but also won the main prize in the raffle.

In 2023, the Auer market town council can look forward to a visit from the Auer Marktkapelle, which will give them a free stand concert.
