As is usual in winter, the number of unemployed in Brandenburg rose slightly in December.
75,733 people were registered as unemployed in the state last month, as the responsible regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency announced on Tuesday.
That was 1274 more than in November and 3970 more than in December of the previous year.
The unemployment rate was 5.7 percent, 0.1 points higher than in the previous month and 0.3 percentage points higher than in December last year.
Berlin - "In Brandenburg, unemployment has risen slightly, but seasonally adjusted, as in Berlin, it has fallen a little," said the head of the Berlin-Brandenburg regional directorate, Ramona Schröder.
In particular, the traditionally strong Christmas business contributed to the stabilization.
Companies are still looking for large numbers of workers.
The employment agencies recorded a total of 25,759 vacancies in December, 247 more than in the same month last year.
