- The Ebersberg Police Inspectorate is dealing with an unusual series of break-ins in the communities of Glonn, Bruck and Baiern, some of which were unsuccessful.
There, an unknown person attacked a cigarette machine with firecrackers.
As the officials let through in a press release, they assume a serial offender.
Three days in three communities: Cigarette machine sprinklers on the road in the Ebersberg district
It all started back in 2022, officials report: between Tuesday, December 27 and Wednesday, December 28, a previously unknown perpetrator blew up a cigarette vending machine near a consumer market in Glonn.
Apparently, the stranger first put several firecrackers in the slot of the machine and ignited them.
He then levered open the machine through the resulting bulge and stole the cigarettes stored inside.
The cigarette butt thief fails in one act
According to the police, the stranger probably tried the same procedure at a cigarette machine in Bavaria at an unknown time.
However, this machine withstood the attempted detonation, so that according to the current state of knowledge no cigarettes were stolen.
In the night of Tuesday, January 3, the perpetrator then went to a machine again, this time near Bruck, the officials report.
Here, too, he proceeded as before.
In this case he also managed to steal the cigarettes.
