Britain will officially declare Iran's Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization - this was reported tonight (Tuesday) in the Telegraph newspaper.
This is after the arrest of seven people connected to Britain and who were involved in protests against the regime.
The move, according to the report, will be announced within a few weeks and is supported by Britain's defense and internal security ministers.
Defining the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization, as they are defined by the United States and other countries, would prohibit membership, participation in their conferences, or the display of their symbol in public.
The British government has not yet responded to the Telegraph report, which cited government sources.
Iran accuses the Western countries, Israel and Arab countries of fueling the demonstrations that broke out in September following the death of the young Kurdish girl Mehsa Amini, who was arrested because she did not observe the Islamic dress code for women.
On Wednesday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak said that Iran should stop arresting people with dual citizenship, and that it should not use these arrests for "diplomatic bargaining power."
