Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stressed that Japan's return to militarization represents a serious challenge to the security of Russia and Asia and the Pacific, warning that Moscow will confront and respond to any Japanese military threat.

And Russia Today website quoted Rudenko as saying in statements: “We drew attention to the urgency of the administration of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to abandon the path of peaceful development for Japan, which Tokyo has committed to for decades, and turn to militarization, as it began conducting large-scale military maneuvers near the Russian borders with the participation of allies.” non-regional, and announced the adoption of a new doctrine of defense and security and an unprecedented increase in military spending, ”noting that Russia expresses its position on this issue publicly and through diplomatic channels.

He added, “We consider such activity from Tokyo a serious challenge to the security of our country and the Asia-Pacific region, and we warn that if these practices continue, we will have to take appropriate response measures to nullify the military threats to Russia.”

Rudenko pointed out that Japan does not abandon its anti-Russian approach and path, so dialogue about signing a peace treaty with it seems impossible, and he said: “It is quite clear that it is impossible to discuss signing such a document with a country that takes openly unfriendly positions and allows itself direct threats.” against our country, and we do not see any signs of Japan moving away from the anti-Russian path, and there are no attempts to correct the current situation.”

Rudenko pointed out that the Russian side had previously negotiated with Japan a comprehensive and complete treaty on peace, friendship and good neighborliness, which should have defined the main directions for accelerating the development of all Russian-Japanese relations, but with the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, the Japanese government was actively involved in organizing the Western campaign. Anti-Russian, practically completely dismantled the results of mutually beneficial cooperation accumulated over many years.

On the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Rudenko stressed that it is no longer possible to return to the "summit diplomacy" in the Korean settlement, as the DPRK made goodwill overtures without any return from the other side.

Rudenko stressed that the United States missed in February 2019 in Hanoi the opportunity to conclude a deal that was very profitable for it in exchange for a partial lifting of international sanctions imposed on the DPRK economy, and as a result Pyongyang was disappointed in the logic of negotiation.

The Russian deputy minister considered that Washington and its allies should abandon the approach of imposing sanctions on the DPRK because this is not effective as a way to solve the problems of the Korean Peninsula, and that the US side should also send a signal to Pyongyang in order to prepare for dialogue to achieve détente, confidence-building measures and the principles of peaceful coexistence. , and building a multilateral system of peace and arms control in Northeast Asia, explaining that all this will allow the legitimate concerns of all countries in the region to be resolved by providing concrete legal security guarantees.
