Macabre discovery in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) this Sunday.

A local resident was worried about not having heard from his neighbour, whom he thought was ill.

The shutters closed for several days of his residence had particularly caught his attention.

Thus, when he saw the son of this 65-year-old woman on Sunday, he was quick to hear from him.

The latter replied that his mother was dead and that she was in the house.

It was then that the neighbor discovered the lifeless body inside the home and notified the police.

the prosecutor of Saint-Nazaire Sylvie Canovas-Lagarde.

These findings suggest that a third party intervened and that the death occurred several days beforehand.

An anteriority confirmed by the results of an autopsy.

The arrested son

The son, who did not live with his mother, was arrested and taken into custody a few hours after the discovery.

From the start of his hearing, “

he made incoherent remarks, which made it impossible to notify the rights

,” said the magistrate.

He was evacuated to the Heinlex hospital center, in Saint-Nazaire, before being transferred to a psychiatric unit in Nantes.

His custody therefore had to be lifted.

Known for his psychiatric past, this 38-year-old man had also gone to court several times: once in 2009 for drug use, another in 2022 for outrage and violence.

An investigation for aggravated voluntary homicide was opened.

The parquet floor of Saint-Nazaire seized it.

For now, the mother's environment is under investigation.

The file will then be transferred to the criminal center of the Nantes court.
