THIS WILL BRING 2023 TO HERRSCHING: Mayor Christian Schiller is looking forward to the visible results of the council's work.

Herrsching

– The past year was a good year for Herrsching's mayor Christian Schiller.

"A lot has progressed, many projects have been launched," he says happily.

The foundation stones were laid - for the children's home at Fendlbach and for the grammar school.

"Even if the school is not our project, it is in Herrsching," and Schiller is proud of that.

Most recently, the inauguration of a new community center in Widdersberg could be celebrated.

Who would have thought that after years of madness and confusion?

Now it goes on.

green planning concept

New projects have been initiated and - like the green planning concept - only developed in the past year.

Namely when protests about tree felling at Kienbach reached their peak.

There was already a working group on the environment at the time.

The fact that this group is now being supported by an expert, as was the case with the transport working group, “I believe is a good basis for raising the discussions to an objective level”.

The city council only made the decision in December.

At the right time, because tree work is traditionally done in winter if it is necessary.

Also as part of the upcoming renovation of the Kienbach.

There has already been an appointment with representatives of the water management office, lower nature conservation authority and community.

"The measures are coordinated," says Schiller.

In order to secure the embankment, paths would have to be cleared.

He knows that there is already a faint protest against it, but he also emphasizes that the responsibility lies with the water management office.

Here and there, the citizens can be sure: "We will do everything to save trees.

People only like it when they have to.” And with the green planning concept, the working group plus experts, Schiller hopes to be able to do justice to everyone.

At the beginning of the year, the expert presented his concept to the municipal council.

Although critical citizens wondered whether another new expert office was necessary.

A representative of the Chamber of Architects is also expected in January to advise the committee on municipal energy issues.

It will depend on him in which areas an already planned additional part-time employee will be used in the municipal environmental office.

"The job description will be based on that," says Schiller.

Children's home Fendlbach

Herrsching's mayor is very pleased with the progress at the Fendlbach children's home.

"The shell of the building is almost finished," he says and firmly expects it to go into operation in the fall.

"Even if maybe not in September, then in October." In any case, larger price increases are no longer to be expected.

This was the case with timber construction because the price of wood has risen by 30 percent.

For the parents' initiative "Kunterbunt", which takes over the sponsorship, the schedule is justifiable.

She doesn't have to leave the old villa on Rieder Straße until 2024.

Only three groups, which then have to be looked after more in the new children's home at Fendlbach, would have to be accommodated differently if necessary or start later.

"The parents are all informed," says Schiller, and in this context he commends the parents' initiative for the good cooperation.

childcare

On the other hand, he is worried about the care in the municipal kindergarten on Seestrasse.

Two full-time positions have been vacant for six months.

In February, another force will say goodbye to their old homeland.

"I'm worried that we won't be able to fully maintain our range of services," says Schiller.

There are almost no applications.

"You have to make that a top priority," he says.

The communities are in competition with the state capital, which entices its educators with special privileges.

"We have no chance of keeping up," says Schiller.

He hopes for new legislation that will compensate for this imbalance and thus resolve the shortage of staff in rural areas.

Schoolyard

The playground of the Christian Morgenstern elementary and middle school will be a big project.

The plans for the redesign have already been presented to the building committee (we reported).

1.3 million are earmarked for design, refurbishment, digitization and parking spaces.

"The schoolyard alone costs around one million euros," says Schiller.

It will mainly be expanded during the holidays.

"We'll probably start at Pentecost." The school garden, the area on Mühlfelder Straße and part of the sports field are included.

The now free area on which the so-called Hurlehaus stood has now been graveled up.

It was intended for the playground extension, but is now a parking lot.

"The teachers didn't have enough parking space," explains Schiller.

However, this redesign does not offer protection from vandals either.

"We can't make Fort Knox out of the school grounds," says Schiller.

As reported, there was repeated damage to property on the site, especially in the summer months.

To prevent this, two meter high fences would be necessary.

"Nobody wants that."

train station

The redesign of the station forecourt has been on hold for a long time.

“The money is simply not there,” says Schiller.

Even longer there are plans for the station building.

In Schiller's first year in office, the community had won the dispute over the right of first refusal, and it has been owned by the community since 2008.

"It was a great pleasure back then," he recalls.

But only since 2021 has the building been deconsecrated by the railway and would therefore be at the free disposal of the community.

But the municipality cannot afford the necessary complete renovation.

"The costs for this are now in the seven-digit range," says Schiller.

Still, there are plans.

In 2023, however, there are only static measures and public discussion about further use in the municipal council.

Even if it were possible to implement ideas from the station forecourt redesign on the building - a café with an outdoor area, for example - the railways have only just put a stop to it.

Because the area planned for this according to a land acquisition plan, the railway now wants to keep.

"A major setback," says the mayor, "as it looks, our great ideas for catering in the station will not come to fruition for the time being.

Anyone negotiating with the railways needs staying power.” He had already had this experience when upgrading the platform to be barrier-free, as well as with the question of an underpass at the Rieder Strasse level crossing.

Mayor Schiller gets excited when he thinks of the two volunteer fire brigades in his community – in Breitbrunn and Herrsching.

Together they celebrate a big party in 2023, because both will be 150 years old.

The preparations are in full swing and hand in hand.

"It's amazing what they come up with.

And that together.

Such cooperation is not a matter of course.”
