Last New Year's Eve, the five-year escape of Javier MV, 32, one of the drug traffickers most wanted by the Security Forces for leading the most active and violent gang in the flow of hashish from Morocco in the Guadalquivir river, came to an end.

After escaping in 2018 from a Customs building in Cádiz, from whose second floor he jumped with his shackles on, the fugitive known as El Lanas returned last Saturday to a chalet in Umbrete (Seville).

His intention was to enjoy the New Year's Eve bells with his son, but the Civil Guard was vigilant.

The agents took advantage of a fugitive's exit to the river to throw firecrackers with the minor and detained him with great precautionary measures, because he was armed and because of his previous escapes.

“He was the leader of the most important and violent hashish drug trafficking organization in the Guadalquivir river.

El Lanas is a violent and very meticulous person, who adopts numerous security measures both to commit criminal acts and in his personal life, ”says the armed institute in its statement on Operation Cardador.

Investigators consider Lanas the leader of an organization that operates between Sanlúcar and the Andalusian capital with large boats loaded with hashish from Morocco.

He accumulated three search and arrest warrants from three different courts, and had been on the run from justice for five years.

During his escape, his brother has run the criminal organization, but now she was in prison.

Numerous drug shipments, firearms and cars have been seized from the gang.

The criminal history of El Lanas includes drug trafficking operations such as Llorón or Cansino, with large drug seizures in the Guadalquivir, up to 10 tons of hashish and cocaine, 10 inflatable boats and war rifles.

Among the members of his gang stands out Manuel Herrera, former head of the Supporter Sur del Betis, the radical fans of the Sevillian team, arrested in 2018 in Operation Tornado-Afluente against drug trafficking and who carried out an attack on a person in Bilbao recorded and uploaded to social media.

The Investigating Court 8 of Seville ordered the admission of El Lanas to prison after his arrest.

Operation Cardador (in relation to the detainee's nickname) has been directed by the Regional Center for Analysis and Intelligence against Drug Trafficking (Crain), the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Seville Command, the Judicial Police Unit of the Andalusia area and the Rapid Action Group (GAR).
