Senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham tonight (Tuesday) sharply criticized the new Secretary of State Eli Cohen following his speech yesterday, in which he announced a change in policy regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine.
why is it important
Graham is considered one of the senior members of the Republican Party and one of the most important senators in the US Congress.
He is also considered the biggest supporter of Israel.
what are they saying
In a series of tweets on Twitter, Graham wrote that Foreign Minister Cohen's statement that Israel will be less public about the Russian invasion of Ukraine is "disturbing".
Graham also criticized Cohen's intention to speak on the phone today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"I hope Mr. Cohen understands that when he talks to Lavrov he is talking to a representative of a regime that commits war crimes on an industrial scale every day. Silence about Russia's criminal behavior will not be remembered as a positive thing," Graham wrote.
