Everyone remembers the legal incident of Afik against Apple in which Fortnite was removed from the technology giant's iPhones and tablets, and this in light of the conflict with the game developer over the payment of percentage fees.
Apple claimed that for every digital purchase made in Fortnite through its platform, Afik is obligated to pay it a 30% commission.
Afik claimed that it did not, demanding that Apple allow players ways to install the game and pay outside of its platforms, and this dragged the two into a huge legal dispute.
In the end, Apple removed Fortnite from its devices, but this year Apik CEO
Tim Sweeney
seems to believe that Fortnite will return to Apple in a big way. He posted on Twitter the phrase "next year on iOS" along with a picture from the game, which received more than a million and a half views And dozens of likes and comments.
So how is this supposed to happen?
Regulators in the European Union advanced a law last month that states that Apple must open up its systems and allow the installation of third-party applications.
That is, those that are not marketed through the App Store.
Sweeney seems to estimate that this year Apple will allow the installation of Fortnite on its devices, but nothing is final or officially confirmed.
Other sources believe that Apple will resist the move as much as possible, and it will try to withdraw these changes until 2024.
