Citizens continue to flock to Al-Baath University Hospital in Homs, to take advantage of the free services provided by the National Campaign for Cancer Screening (breast-cervix-prostate) in Homs, which continues until the 10th of this month.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Firas Zureika, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the campaign is witnessing a good and increasing turnout since its inception, as the hospital receives people from all neighborhoods, especially (Karm Al-Shami, Tariq Al-Sham, Al-Midan, Al-Khader, Ikrimah, Al-Nuzha, Baba Omar, Kafaraya, compulsory distribution, savings, deacon, the old neighborhoods of Homs, and Nahia Shanchar), in addition to the workers at Al-Baath University.
Dr. Zureika pointed out that services are provided in the construction of the hospital after equipping the departments with all means and tools that help in providing good service and comfort for the patients.
And Dr. Yasser Al-Samman, the medical director and supervisor of the campaign’s progress in the hospital, stated that the number of beneficiaries of the campaign’s services to date has reached (1076) people, who received (1135) services distributed among 513 mammography services, 455 blood samples for prostate cancer detection, and 167 smear samples. Dr. Al-Samman pointed out that the services are provided by the presence of a medical and nursing staff, midwives, and technicians specialized in radiography, in addition to the presence of a volunteer team (Thiqa Team), whose mission is to organize and receive visitors and fill out all forms and information required, encouraging them and spreading awareness of the importance of conducting free examinations and services for the campaign.
Nada Al-Shami, Lubna Al-Marai, and Salam Al-Junaidi called on the hospital reviews to conduct a mammogram and cervical smear, to the need for women to benefit from the services provided by the campaign to check on their health, and to go to hospitals and government health centers closest to them to benefit from the services of the campaign.
For their part, Yamen Al-Khattab, Suhail Al-Ahmad and Muhammad Suleiman, who went to the hospital for a prostate analysis, indicated that it is a simple and necessary procedure for men with advanced age to detect any symptoms or problems and promptly receive appropriate treatment for them.
