According to the police, the special duty team of the Yuen Long Police District launched an anti-crime operation code-named "LEVINGTON" (LEVINGTON) in the district at about 5 pm yesterday (January 4) after conducting a surprise search. A flat in Dapitou Road smashed a suspected prostitution establishment.
During the operation, a 50-year-old local woman surnamed Zhao was arrested on suspicion of "managing a prostitution establishment".
Another 45-year-old local woman surnamed Wang and a 40-year-old mainland woman surnamed Wen were arrested on suspicion of "assisting in the management of prostitution establishments". The mainland woman was also arrested on suspicion of "violating the conditions of stay".
All those arrested are being detained for investigation.
During the operation, officers seized a batch of evidence in the unit, including beds, signboards and towels.
According to Chapter 139 of the Laws of Hong Kong "Operating Prostitution Establishments", any person who operates any premises, vessel or place as a prostitution establishment; or manages or assists in the management, or otherwise manages or controls the premises, vessel or place, it is an offense and the maximum penalty, on conviction, is imprisonment for 10 years.
The police reiterated that the Yuen Long Police District will continue to fight against illegal activities such as prostitution in the district.
The police appeal to the public to contact the police if they find suspected illegal activities in the area.
