The traffic situation in the area of Sonnenstraße, Auweg and Sternstraße was an issue in the Moosinninger municipal council.

Moosinning

– The Moosinning construction committee discussed the traffic situation in the areas of Sonnenstrasse, Auweg and Sternstrasse in detail and with some controversy.

In the end, several individual decisions were made.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.

Due to two applications for traffic calming and a list of signatures from the residents of Sonnenstrasse, Sternstrasse and Auweg on traffic calming measures, there was a traffic inspection at the end of November with the Erding police station, representatives of the district office, the road maintenance department and the municipality of Moosinning, explained Mayor Georg Nagler ( SPD).

A no-stopping zone with designated parking areas without speed limits currently applies to the streets mentioned.

The traffic load has increased significantly in recent years, as the Sonnenstrasse is used as a connecting road between Dorfstrasse and Erdinger Strasse.

Speed and through traffic in the affected area have increased due to the newly established no-parking zone and have not decreased as hoped, the mayor remarked.

Due to the local conditions and the narrow residential development, after consultation with those involved in the traffic show, a speed limit of 30 km/h is conceivable on Sonnenstrasse, Georg Nagler stated.

There is also the option of designating Sternstraße and Auweg as a traffic-calmed area.

In this case, Sonnenstrasse would be the street with the right of way and should be signposted with a “priority” sign at the intersections with Sternstrasse and Auweg.

Currently right before left applies here.

Tempo 30 and traffic-calmed area as described - that was ultimately the recommendation of the administration as a result of the traffic survey.

Georg Nagler emphasized that this would accommodate the applications as far as possible and that the result of the traffic survey would be taken into account.

A large part of the panel spoke out in favor of reducing the speed to 30 km/h on Sonnenstrasse.

Christian Nagler emphasized that he was against a traffic-calmed area in the Auweg.

The advantages and disadvantages had already been weighed up extensively years ago, and the traffic-calmed area that existed at the time was subsequently abolished.

"We don't need a traffic-calmed area in Auweg and Sternstraße," said the Bürgerblock municipal council and said: "These are both dead ends, you can't drive fast there anyway." A traffic-calmed area has a "different quality," replied Georg nailer.

He also explained that the blue sign with children on it, indicating a restricted traffic area where walking speed is allowed, is often mistaken for a play street.

Christian Nagler replied - slightly annoyed: "Then we will now get one application after the other, and at some point we will have 30 km/h in the entire municipal area." He would not make Sternstraße and Auweg a traffic-calmed area, said Manfred Lex (CSU): " These are dead ends – they laugh at us.” But he could live with a 30 zone.

Christian Weigand from the building authority showed the advantages and disadvantages of the various options.

"A total of 30 zones is the smartest solution, I only need two traffic signs and I have everything covered," he stated.

If a different regulation were made for Sonnenstraße than for the side streets, then more traffic signs would be required accordingly.

"I drive the Sonnenstrasse often, but I have not yet managed to drive 50 km/h there," remarked Josef Romir (SPD).

His suggestion was: "Temporarily 30 km/h, but keep checking and take stock in a year."

Since the most extensive application was a complete 30 zone, Mayor Nagler initially had this voted on.

It was rejected 5:6, which led to a short-term exchange of words between Christian Nagler and Anneliese Ways (SPD), but tempers calmed down again immediately.

The proposal to initially reduce the Sonnenstrasse to 30 km/h for a year was accepted 6:5.

However, the councilors unanimously rejected the proposal to designate Sternstrasse as a traffic-calmed area.

All members of the building committee voted in favor of Sonnenstrasse being designated as the priority road opposite Auweg and Sternstrasse.

Likewise for the designation of three additional parking spaces on Sternstrasse using floor markings.
