The president and the prime minister called on their troops to show "boldness" to "resist the headwinds" and "stay tuned" to the French.

The tradition has been respected.

As every year, the government met for breakfast in Beauvau this Wednesday morning, before joining the Elysée on foot for the Council of Ministers back to school.

Behind closed doors, Elisabeth Borne called on her government to "

resist headwinds

", while Emmanuel Macron noted a "

conjuration of sad spirits

".

According to Olivier Véran, the Head of State would also have invited his troops "

to be bold and to remain attentive to all the concerns of the French

", in this return to school against all dangers, marked by the draft law on pension reform.

The government spokesperson also addressed the political forces of the opposition as well as all the social partners during the press briefing organized at the end of the meeting.

"

We hear you and we listen to you

," he insisted, while the consultations between the Prime Minister and the trade unions and employers' organizations continue until Thursday.

The risk of power cuts “seems to be receding”

These are not facade consultations

”, assured Olivier Véran, believing that all the players shared the same diagnosis: “

Our pension system is no longer balanced over time

”.

After recalling the timetable - the bill will be unveiled to the French on January 10, then presented to the Council of Ministers on January 23, before being examined in Parliament in the process - the government spokesperson indicated that , by the end of the summer, the law should be enacted.

However, he warns: “

If at the end of the day, no agreement is reached with all the partners, there will nevertheless be a bill because it is our responsibility to secure the pension system.

»

Finally, with regard to the energy crisis, Olivier Véran was reassuring: "

The latest indicators are positive and the risk of cuts this winter seems to be on the decline due to a gradual resumption of operation of our nuclear power plants, but also, due to weather conditions.
