US President Joe Biden will receive Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Friday January 13 in Washington, the White House announced on Tuesday.
The two leaders are to discuss a series of hot diplomatic topics, including North Korea, Ukraine, China, the economy and even climate change, said the spokesperson for the executive in a press release.
This visit aims to “
further develop the links between our governments, our economies and our peoples
”, added Karine Jean-Pierre.

During the past year, Joe Biden and Fumio Kishida “
have worked together closely to modernize the alliance between the United States and Japan
”, including a “
deepening of their cooperation in advanced technologies
”, and the development of a “
free and open Indo-Pacific
,” referring to the geographic region of Asia-Pacific, the statement continued.
The American president will also bring his renewed support to the Japanese presidency of the G7 and his mandate as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, according to the White House.
