Germering - "Strengthen children, protect children" - this is the motto under which the carol singers are on the road this year.
And the Germeringer kings are going from door to door again this year and bring their blessings.
The carol singers from the three Catholic parishes of St. Martin, St. Cecilia and Don Bosco got things started on Monday, January 2nd, when they wrote the blessing "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" over the elevator in the town hall.
This should not only bless the town hall itself, but also all employees and visitors and, as a representative of this, all Germeringer.
"No child in the world may stand aside," says one of the Three Kings.
This statement underscores the focus of the Dreikönigssingen campaign this year.
All over the world, children suffer from violence and we want to counteract this – for example with prevention courses and educational work.
Children need to be protected - and a donation is being collected for this.
Mayor Andreas Haas started that day and put a few bills in the donation boxes.
January 6 - Epiphany
On January 6th, the kings will again visit the citizens of Germeringer at home.
Due to Corona, this had not been possible for the last two years.
The children are therefore very happy, as they have diligently practiced their sayings and songs and dressed up appropriately.
And the mayor is also happy: "Thank you for your commitment!"
With a little help, the year of the blessing could also be changed.

For the 65th time, the nationwide carol singers campaign will take place this year.
Last year, 38.6 million euros came together.
The money will be divided between different aid projects worldwide, although the focus this year is on Asia and Indonesia.
In the three parishes of Germeringer there are also festive services on January 6th.
